Journals

I have been making these journals for two years now after taking a bookbinding and paper making class during my degree at CSULB. The Coptic stitch made an impact on me; I was mesmerized by the rhythm of binding and sewing up these journals. I was soon deconstructing all of my sketchbooks and binding them up into smaller, cuter sketchbooks. Everyone I know received them as gifts, and it wasn’t until recently that I started to turn them into a small business. I find a lot of joy in creating these journals, and I am thrilled to be able to share them with more people.

The Art

Jordan Harp explores the juxtaposition of architecture and nature in her paintings and drawings. While the structure of nature and buildings are visually different, they function the same way. Rock formations and trees are home to insects and animals, and apartment buildings and houses are home to humans. Jordan is interested in unique architecture both new and ancient, as well as rock formations and the shape of the arch that is a symbol of strength and beauty in both the natural world and the constructed one.

Photography is her newest venture, and she is having fun photographing architecture and nature. Jordan prefers film, but is enjoying her new little digital camera from the mid 2000s. Her favorite place she has photographed has been Fushimi Inari in Kyoto, Japan.
